Highclere

Today we took out the truck for it's first long(ish) drive to Highclere House in Berkshire. Sue felt a bit car sick. Oh dear. Never mind because I still love her to bits, just so long as she doesn't puke in the new (and very shiny) car.

Stupid GPS

When I was coming back from Didcot on the scenic route the other week, this is where the GPS tried to take me! Admittedly, it wasn't quite this high last time but there was no way it was passable. Today I was forced to reverse for a mile back up the road because the water had come up so high there was no where to turn around. At one point I had to pull over to let somebody else in a car carry on down to the ford. Don't know where they thought they were going.

Shiny shiny car

How shiny is my new car? Very shiny because I've just cleaned it. I'm sure I'll revert to a twice a year clean in due course but at the moment, it's nice having a car that's clean inside and out. The tonneua cover has also turned up so I've fitted that and now have an excessively large boot.

Will's gig

On Wednesday night Will playing a gig at the Electric Theatre as part of his final year assessment. He, and the whole band, were very good. We managed to get a seat behind the judges so was able to have a sneek preview of their comments and scoring. They were saying suitably positive things so I didn't feel the urge to clonk them on the head!

Guilfest 2007

I've spent this weekend at Guilfest , listening to music and generally lolling around. Sue, Amelia and I stayed in a near by hotel because, as Sue tells me, she doesn't do camping (though she's promised that'll change in the summer, at least for a few days). Will camped on site and met up with some friends. The best bands, as ever, were in the smaller tents though Uriah Heap were interesting to see on Sunday night.

It might not be clever, but it is big

My new car turned up last week - a Toyota Hilux double cab pick up truck in a fetching dark blue. I really like it so far. It cruises along the motorway without any problem though it is a bit bouncy over rough roads - I guess that is down to the suspension being designed to cope with whatever loads you can chuck in the back. I've ordered an aluminium cover for it from www.4x4x4.com which should be turning up next week. I thought I'd leave ordering a bed liner for a bit longer until I actually need one.

At least now I can drive around when and where I want without having to make arrangements around Val which I'm sure is a relief to all involved.

The girlfriend has now got her own blog, so I'll be able to harrass her about why she hasn't updated it. http://camberleyangel.blogspot.com/

I've also been to Pilates this morning for the first time after the snip. I seem to have survived - nothing has fallen out or off anyway.
